Udupi: A package of wholesome entertainment to showcase the rich and diversified culture of the coastal Karnataka was presented yesterday, 10th November, 2023. The open stage in the Milagres quadrangle at 5.30 pm yet again provided wonderful platform to the young students to exhibit a stellar performance as it was superbly woven to include, Bharata-natyam, Yakshagana, pili-vesha and other forms of folklore, solo and group singing etc. It was a Deepavali festive look around the Campus as the College lit with oil lamps, decorations etc.
Earlier in the morning, the Milagres College has NAAC Accreditation Peer team, comprising Prof Jugal Kishore Mishra, the Chairperson, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Prof D. K Sharma, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Member Coordinator, and Prof Minu Madalani, Principal, KPB Hinduja College of Commerce, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Member – to re-assess the College standards, evaluated and measured using various yardsticks and feedback from stakeholders.
The much awaited two days process on 10th & 11th November, 2023, was given a start in the morning with a warm and cordial welcome led the Dr Vincent Alva, Principal, Milagres College, Kallianpur, IQAC Coordinator Dr Jayaram Shettigar, the staff and students during the august presence of Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese and the President of the Management Board, Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General, Rev. Fr Vincent Crasta, Secretary CESU, V. Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the Correspondent and the Rector of the Milagres Cathedral, Rev Fr Joy Andrade, Asst Parish Priest, Milagres Church, Mrs Savitha Hebbar, Principal Milagres PU College and other dignitaries, parents and well-wishers.
The visiting team paid visits to Library, laboratories, Play ground, Miyawaki forest, Hostels for boys and girls, Auditorium, Canteens, Gymnasium, various departments to get the feel of physical facilities available in this Institution, located at the rural background providing value based education since 1967. There were stalls to highlight both the past achievements and present manifold activities of students’ fraternity, exhibition of trophies and medals, roll of honour enlisting rank holders and champions etc which was a stunning experience to past students and parents who visited the College in these two days.
There were interactions with Management, the staff and students in the afternoon session. Most importantly meeting with Alumni and Parents, was proved to be very interesting and satisfying to the Peer team members. Among others President of MCK Old Students Association Mr Shekhar Gujjarbettu, Mr Nagaraj and others expressed their passionate feelings towards their Alma mater. Mr Mestha, President of PTA shared his feelings with a wonderful learning atmosphere in place for the all-round growth of each and every youth enrolled in the Milagres.
During the exit meeting on November 11, 2023 Prof. Jugal Kishore Mishra, the Chairman of the assessment committee suggested the college to focus on research and employability by building skill orientated programs for students. He appreciated the resourcefulness of the college and alumni support.
Yes, the College has many more unique features which cannot be exhibited during two day assessment… however it’s a great display of rich quality as a whole and all of us are deservedly expecting a better NAAC Grade in days to come.
