NSS Units of the Milagres College, Kallianpur, takes initiative to clean the Hoode beach.

Udupi : On Sunday 9th April, around 77 NSS students gathered together to both demonstrate the importance of a clean Beach and to spread awareness of ill effects of plastic on human, animals, especially marine aqua system. Harmful forms of Plastics such as micro plastics and plastic associated toxic chemicals enter human and animal digestive systems. It’s truly shocking to know that Scientists have found micro-plastics in more than 100 marine species like fishes etc and almost one third of these ends up on our dining table and plates…! Eventually this is causing several health problems to humans and animals.

NSS Officers Mrs Anupama Jogi and Rev Dr Anil Prakash Castelino organised this mega cleanliness drive with active participation of College Students who enthusiastically involved in picking plastic and other solid waste items like tins, bottles, wrappers etc in huge quantities and arranged to dispose them off properly. The Villagers, visiting tourists, local residents and public at large appreciated the young Milagrean youngsters concern for neat and clean beach and surrounding.
