Udupi : The Society of St Vincent de Paul Conference of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur of Udupi diocese celebrated its patron St. Vincent de Paul feast here last Sunday.
The Eucharistic mass was celebrated by Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector of the Cathedral along with the Very Rev Fr. Denzil Martis, Superior and Director of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur.
In his homily Fr. Valerian Mendonca pointed out the role of St Vincent de Paul to the poorest of the poor. His life was preaching missions to and providing relief to the poor which became his passion.
The liturgy of the mass was conducted by the members of the Society of St Vincent de Paul Conference of the cathedral.
There was a brief get together programme organized at the priest meeting hall which was attended by the adopted families members, donors and SSVP members. The Rector of the Cathedral Fr. Valerian Mendonca distributed gifts to adopted families and also gave rose flower to adopted families as well as donors. Later Rector Fr. Valerian Mendonca gave his festive message to the members and conveyed his wishes. Jefrey Dias, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council also spoke during the occasion.
Earlier Bro. Richard D’Souza placed an introduction on the SSVP Conference, followed by Sr. Rosy V. Baretto, President of the parish conference, welcomed the gathering. Bro. Fredrick Sequirra placed a brief report of the conference.
Rev Fr. Denzil Martis of Pilar Fathers, Smt. Felciana Lewis Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council and Smt Flavia Menezes Coordinator of Pastoral Commissions were present during the programme. Bro. Richard D’Souza compered the programme while Sr. Clara D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.
