Mumbai: C.P Radhakrishnan who was serving as the Jharkhand Governor was sworn in as the new Governor of Maharashtra.
Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya administered the oath of office to Radhakrishnan at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Wed (31 July).
Radhakrishnan is the 21st Governor of Maharashtra. He succeeds Ramesh Bais whose term came to an end.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar welcomed the Governor by presenting to him bouquets after the ceremony.
Earlier State Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik read out the Warrant of Appointment of the appointment of Shri Radhakrishnan issued by President of India Droupadi Murmu. The oath taking ceremony began with the rendition of the National Anthem and the State Song by the Police Band. The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Rahul Narwekar, former CM Narayan Rane, DGP Rashmi Shukla, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, ACS Protocol Manisha Mhaiskar and invitees were among those present on the occasion.
