Udupi: After dedicating 32 years to the noble profession of teaching, Mr. Mukunda M Naik, retired from service on August 31, 2023, culminating 15 remarkable years of service at St. Joseph’s Primary School in Kallianpur.
A farewell ceremony was held at the Milagres Tricentenary Hall at 11:00 AM. The event saw the presence of not only the school’s management, dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff, and enthusiastic students but also Mrs. Jyothikala Madam, the esteemed Group Resource Person of the department, members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the School Alumni Association.
Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, the School Manager and Correspondent, together with Mr. Melwyn Sequeira, Vice President of the PPC, bestowed upon Mr. Naik a traditional shawl, a commemorative plaque, a bouquet of flowers, and a delightful fruit platter. In his address, Fr. Mendonca extended heartfelt gratitude for Mr. Naik’s exemplary service in nurturing the young minds during their formative years. He wished Mr. Naik a joyous and healthy retirement.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome by the school’s Principal, Mrs. Prafulla Rodrigues.
Speaking on behalf of the entire teaching fraternity, Mrs. Daina Fernandes highlighted the virtues of Mr. Mukunda M Naik, his dedication and passion for teaching and his willingness to go the extra mile for his students, always exemplifying love, patience, and understanding.
Mr. Naik humbly expressed his deep appreciation to the school’s management, staff, students, and parents for their unwavering support throughout his tenure. He extended his best wishes for the school’s future endeavors. He also stated that he would miss his students and colleagues, but he was looking forward to spending more time with his family.
As the program drew to a close, Ms. Lelavathi, one of the esteemed teachers, conveyed heartfelt thanks to all attendees for their invaluable presence and continued support for the school and its teachers.
The event was beautifully compered by Ms. Vidya, one of the teaching faculty who served as the program’s host.
The farewell ceremony was a fitting tribute to a dedicated and hardworking teacher. Mr. Naik will be missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of his students.
