Mumbai (RBI), June. 16:  iam Charitable Trust Launches Special Environmental Initiative on World Environment Day -“A Fruit Tree in Every Courtyard” Taking a strong and visionary step towards environmental conservation, Miam Charitable Trust has launched a special initiative on the occasion of World Environment Day – “A Fruit Tree in Every Courtyard.” This campaign has been initiated from Vadalapeth village in the Aheri tehsil of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, with the aim not only to increase greenery but also to strengthen the harmony between humans, nature, and wildlife.

From Nutrition to Nature — One Tree, Multiple Benefits

As part of this unique initiative, fruit-bearing trees are being planted in every home, courtyard, and public space. These trees will not only provide essential nutrition to children and pregnant women but will also serve as a source of food and shelter for birds and wild animals. What sets this initiative apart is that it goes far beyond mere plantation.

Representatives of Miam Trust stated:

“We are not just planting saplings; we are planting 4–5-year-old fruit trees and taking full responsibility for their care over the next 7–8 years. This is not a one-day activity — it’s a long-term commitment.”

Where Are the Trees Being Planted?

In village homes and courtyards

On school premises and educational campuses

In urban areas like Mumbai, where the initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation)

In the forests of Gadchiroli, so that wild animals can find food in their natural habitats and do not venture into human settlements.

This effort will also help reduce the rising human-wildlife conflict by ensuring that forest animals get their nourishment within the jungle itself.

Balancing Nature and Progress:

Miam Trust firmly believes that “a balance between nature and development” is the right path for humanity. While the initiative is a vital step toward environmental conservation, it also contributes to nutrition, public health, climate balance, and biodiversity preservation.

With the powerful message – “Small steps bring big changes – plant a tree, save a life,”

– the trust is urging citizens, schools, NGOs, and local administrations to join hands and participate in this movement.

This campaign is not just setting a positive example – it is also laying the foundation for a green, sustainable, and harmonious future for generations to come.
