Udupi: The Golden Jubilee celebration of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur Conference took place on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
At 10 a.m., a Thanksgiving Jubilee Mass was celebrated in the Cathedral by V. Rev. Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves, the Vicar General of the Udupi Diocese. A large gathering of Vincentians and parishioners participated in the mass.
Following the mass, a get-together was organized in the Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall starting from 11.30 a.m. Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves presided over the function. Rector of the Cathedral and Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Asst. Parish Priest Fr. Joy Andrade, and SVP Spiritual Director of Udupi Diocese Fr. Reginald Pinto were present on the occasion.
Walter Martis, Udupi Diocese SVP President, Gilbert Pinto, Senior member and Ex-President of SVP Mangalore, Past President of Milagres Cathedral SVP Richard A Dsouza and Rosy Baretto, PPC Vice President Melwyn Sequeira, Secretary Eugene Rebello, Prema Lewis (Coordinator of the 20 Diocesan Commissions), and SVP Secretary Clara Dsouza were present on the dais.
The program commenced with a welcome dance performed by children from Milagres Kannada Medium School. Rector of the Cathedral Fr. Valerian Mendonca invoked blessings through a prayer, and Rosy Baretto extended a warm welcome to everyone.
SVP Secretary Clara Dsouza presented the annual report of the Society, and past presidents Stany Pinto and Richard Dsouza were honored during the event. Richard A Dsouza expressed gratitude for the support received throughout the year and for the presence of everyone on this grand occasion.
Vincent Quadros, Kallianpur Area Council Treasurer, efficiently compered the program. Msgr. Gonsalves commended the society members for their dedication and service to the less fortunate.
The program concluded with a fellowship meal.
