Mumbai, March 24: This literature and art form is a folk art which has been spread orally from mouth to mouth since before literacy. Ancient values and knowledge can be seen in folk art. The acting president of Karnataka Janapada Parishad Bangalore, retired Chancellor Prof. H. C Boralingaiah said.
He spoke on the occasion of Karnataka Janapada Parishad (Regd.) Bangalore its Maharashtra unit celebrated the second annual cultural Ustava, prize distribution and closing ceremony with ”Janapada Siri Sinchana” program at Mrs. Radhabai Thimmappa Bhandary Sabhagriha, Buntara Bhavan, Kurla East on Sunday.
The program was held under the president ship of Maharashtra Unit President Dr.R.K Shetty and senior literary and novelist Mitra Venkatraj was present as the guest of honor and the professor of Saint Agnes College Mangalore Dr. Arun Ullal gave a compass speech.
Folk are is important for teaching rites and culture. We are inspired by the artists of Mumbai and with the cooperation of all, we have been able to successfully organize this cultural celebration. Let’s introduce this art to future people in the presidential speech R.K Shetty said.
Playwright, folk theater director Karunakara K. Kapu was honored and felicitated by awarding him the ”Janapada Vibhushan Award”. Sharmila K.Kapu, Disha K.Kapu, Dhanish K.Kapu and office bearers of Janapada parishat Mah. Unit, Hon. Treasurer Ganesh G.Naik, Joint Secretary Padmanabha Sasihitlu, Joint Treasurer Kusuma C.Poojary, Women wing Chairperson Anitha U.Shetty were on the stage.
The Empowered Artists Fund is distributed to Madhav Salyan Padil and Sanjeeva M. Shetty by Parishad. On behalf of them accepted by Manohar Nandalik and Karunakar Kapu respectively. The winner of the dance competition was Chinnarabimba Pejawara (Santacruz) camp first place, Tulukoota Foundation Nallasopara second place, Dumbi Foundation Dombivili camp third place and the president and office bearers congratulated the teams by distributing prizes. The judges of the competition Priya Saiganesh Poojari and Priya Rakesh Shetty were felicitated by the President.
In the beginning of the Inauguration at Sri Mahavishnu Temple of Buntara Sangha Veda Murthy Nagendra Bhat Kadiyali performed the Pooja, performed Maharathi and distributed prasad and with formally started the celebration. Praveen Bhoja Shetty, president of Bunts Sangh Mumbai, inaugurated the second annual cultural celebration by lighting the lamp. President of Federation of World Bunt’s Association’s Aikala Harish Shetty was the chief guest.
On this occasion, the executive committee members of the Kar.Janapada Parishat, Mah. unit, Jaya A.Shetty, N.Prithviraj Mundkur, P.Dhananjaya Shetty, Narayana Shetty Nandashik, Naveen Shetty Innabalik, Ln. Krishnaiah Hegde, Balakrishna D.Shetty, Ln. Muralidhara Hegde, Kamalaksha G.Saraf, Shivaram N.Shetty, Adv. R.M Bhandary, Adv. Vasanthi Kunder, CA. Sudesh Shetty, Vinaya Poojary, Lalitha Prabhu Angadi, Sarojini Salyan and other members were present.
Renowned troupes from Maharashtra were presented competition folk group dance, Maharashtra unit members folk group singing sinchana, folk group comedy sinchana, short drama, taala maddale, anka ayana siri sinchana, folk sinchana. Under the sponsorship of Karnataka Janapada Parishad Bengaluru invited teams performed various music and dance entertainments etc.
Sushila S.Devadiga, Suchita S.Shetty, Vimala Devadiga Sang Welcome devotional prayer song. Cultural committee chairman Srinivasa P.Sapalya offered prayers in the form of Yakshagana. Vice President Dr. Surendrakumar Hegde welcomed the gathering. Hon. Gen. Secretary Ashok Pakkala gave introductory speech. Welcomed. Karnoor Mohan Rai compared the program and delivered vote of thanks.
