A great day marked with three special events in Milagres College.
Blessings ceremony of renovated Main Entrance to Milagres College & Audio-visual Hall & Celebration of International Women’s Day.
Deservedly as one of the memorial of its 4th cycle of NAAC – National Assessment & Accreditation 2016 – 2022, the Milagres College in Kallianpur, received better attraction in its newly renovated main entrance. One will feel proud and happy to step in the campus of the College.
The renovated Main Entrance was blessed today, 8th March, 2023 at 3.00 pm by the Correspondent of the College Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca. Earlier on behalf of the proud B Com Batch of 1986 – 87, Prof Sophia Dias & Mrs Maria Wilma Rego, alumna, cut the ribbon to declare the Entrance open for use.
Principal Dr. Vincent Alva both the designer and executer of this artistic state of the art welcoming arc, thanked the guests and dignitaries present on this occasion. He also recalled with gratitudes the monetary support and contribution received from alumni to have this beautiful structure in place.
Second important work – much needed alteration in the College is the complete renovation of its famed ‘Audio visual Hall’. In the past, the College had organised many – University, National and International Seminars, symposiums, over here, popularly known as AV Hall, now given a complete facelift with new air-conditioning facilities, ultra modern sound system, projectors, furniture etc  at the cost of close to Rs. 10 lakhs. No doubt this Hall will going to host many events in coming days and will be organisers’ and participants favourite destination.
After the simple ceremony of prayers and blessings, the Correspondent of ‘Milagrean Educational Institutions’ & Rector of the Milagres Cathedral expressed his happiness and congratulated the Principal and Staff, donors and contributors, and all those involved in this much needed two utility and artistic works.
Third event is the celebration of ‘International Women’s Day’. Though the Colleges had summer holidays for students, students gathered in the Campus in a sizeable number to take part in the simple programme arranged by Women’s Cell under the famous Mango Tree, a distinct open ground venue for many such gatherings. In her key note address Dr. Harinakshi, HOD Dept of Kannada outlined the role of women in the society and also sought men’s cooperation to strengthen, empower and encourage them in every walk of life.
Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca extended Birthday greetings to the Principal Dr. Vincent Alva as the gathering joined the chorus to sing Happy Birthday Sir…! He also congratulated all students and women present, on this unique Women’s Day.
Chief Guest Mrs. Ivy Lobo from Kemmannu, while sharing her feelings encouraged young women to be brave, smart and ready to face life as if every is a new day.
All present were served with Birthday Cake. Most of the teaching and non teaching staff, few alumni members also present to witness the celebrations, as the College already poised to welcome NAAC Team on 10th and 11th March, 2023.
