Finally, a breather and much needed respite for the people travelling from Kallianpur and Kemmannu to Udupi, who dread to cross the Santhekatte Junction which had witnessed many accidents in the past and the people were desperate for a permanent solution for this day to day problem.
Vehicles coming from Kundapura to Udupi are now provisionally being re-rooted through an alternate route to facilitate the construction of an overpass at the Santhekatte junction in order to solve the frequent traffic jam as well as accidents.
The Bhoomi poojan for this work was done a few weeks ago and the work provisionally started but was abruptly halted due to protests from the public as it was causing traffic congestion due to the non-availability of alternate routes for vehicles. However now the work has restarted again and the traffic police are trying their best to avoid traffic jams.
