Annual Day Celebrations of Milagres College at Milagres Tri-Centinary Hall, Kallianpur.

Udupi: College Day, undoubtedly a prominent event in the life of management, students, teachers and the entire institute itself. It’s a day to reminisce about a year long academic, curricular and outreach programs of the college and make them known to everyone who formulates life inside the institute.Students are the life of any academic activity and there are so many others who direct, plan and execute the best for its students. College Day is one such activity which is the crux of the entire exercise that was going on in the campus.

In a traditionally planned college day program Dr Jayaram Shettigar, the IQAC coordinator of the college welcomed the gathering.

Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves, the Vicar General of the diocese, Mr Hariprasad Shetty, Mr Raj Bengre, Very Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, the Correspondent of the Milagres Institutions, Mrs Savitha Kumari, Principal, MCK – PUC, Mr Melvyn Sequeira, Mr Ganesh Mestha, PTA President, and Mr Shekar Gujjarbettu, the President of Alumni Association were the guests.

Dr Vincent Alva, the Principal presented the Annual Report and applauded the efforts of all the achievers in the field of   sports and academics. Ms Keerthana was awarded the ‘Cheetah of MCK’ for her spectacular record in track and field, at University, State and National level.

Inventing a different mode from the age-old pattern of reading the report, Principal called the achievers to the stage, whenever their reference was made in the report and deservedly honoured them – rank holders, faculty achievers, sports person others who brought laurels and recognition to the College during past academic year.

Msgr Ferdinand Gonsalves,   the Vicar General of the Diocese in his presidential remarks applauded achievements of the college in serving the rural generation from the past 56 years. The college has always kept in mind it’s very first founding purpose to educate the least privileged of the society and educate the girls of the locality.

The proficiency  and endowment prizes instituted by various philanthropists and people of goodwill were conferred to the student achievers in the area of sports and academics.

Mr Hariprasad Shetty, the alumnus of the college was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering Mr Shetty was happy to recollect the memories of his college days and efforts of his teachers to prepare him to face life. Mr Shetty expressed his delight in the progress the college is making in various fields. He beautifully narrated his own life story, which itself a motivation to youngsters….!

Mr Raj Bengre, the guest of honour of the day aptly spoke to encourage students by quoting a lot of interesting life stories and hard work. He was successful in motivating the students for higher achievements with sustained and perennial efforts at these aims. A few meritorious students were conferred with the Best Outgoing Student award.

Speaking on the occasion Very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, the Correspondent of the college urged students not to be satisfied with small things, but aim high. He didn’t forget to stress and say character is the highest virtue of all other virtues and values learnt in the college would accompany the students throughout their life.

Mr Karthik Kumar BS President Students Council proposed the vote of thanks.

Members of the management committee, parents, alumni, retired professors, faculty and students were present. The sumptuous college day meal was appreciated by all.
