Udupi: The NSS unit of Milagres College Kallianpur in collaboration with the Malpe Police, Malpe had organised a session on drug abuse on Friday, June 23, 2023 in the A V Hall of the College.
Ms Sushma Bhandary, Police sub-inspector, Malpe Police station was the resource person. Speaking on the occasion Ms Bhandary connected the concept of drug abuse and students related to criminal activities. The abuse would increase the demand for money for many illegal activities; hence it increases crime she said.
Prof Sophia Dias, the principal in-charge of the College spoke on the occasion and applauded the services of the police in ensuring safety of youngsters and the good association the college have with Malpe Police.
Normally International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed on 26th June every year, since 1989 and with duel objectives, the campaign to raise awareness on the one hand and on the other to treat affected people with compassion, respect and empathy.
Ms Anupama Jogi, NSS Programme Officer of the college and Mr Sachin from Malpe Police station were present.
Teachers and NSS volunteers participated in the program and discussed the concept of drug abuse from the students’ point of view.
