Health Checkup Section and Hostel Solar Unit Inaugurated at Manasa, Pamboor.

Udupi: Two essential facilities required for the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor were inaugurated and blessed on Monday, 30 October 2023 at 11 am. Msgr. Ferdinand Gonslaves-Vicar General of the Udupi Diocese inaugurated and blessed the Health Checkup Section and Fr. Denis D’Sa- PRO of the Udupi Diocese and Parish Priest of St. Anne’s Church, Thottam inaugurated and blessed the Hostel Solar Unit which was sponsored by CR3 (India) Private Limited and Co-sponsored by Selco Foundation from Bangalore belonging to SelcoSolar Light Private Limited.

A brief stage programme was held in the Manasa auditorium presided over by Henry Menezes-President of the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre. Other dignitaries on the dais included Msgr. Ferdinand Gonslaves, Fr. Denis D’Sa, Mrs. Joyce Margaret Serrao-HR and Resource Planning Manager of CR3 (India) Private Limited, Subramanya N-Branch Manager Energy Solutions, Udupi representing Selco Solar Light Private Limited, Joseph Noronha-Secretary, Manasa and Mrs. Muriel Premlatha-Vice Principal of Manasa. Following the prayer by the students of Manasa, Henry Menezes welcomed the guests.

John Martis, one of the Trusties of Manasa narrated the need to provide the facilities of Health Checkup Section and the Hostel Solar Unit for the benefit of the children studying and staying at the manasa Institution.

Mrs. Joyce Margaret Serrao in her address said that she had visited the Manasa Institution in March 2023 and was very much impressed by the work done by the institution in training and rehabilitating the specially abled children. She advised the Management of Manasa to put in an application to her company CR3 (India) Private Limited for sponsoring the Solar Unit which she could help to get under the CSR scheme. She greatly appreciated the sacrifice of the Management and the teachers in educating and training the specially abled children.

In his address, Subramanya N narrated the role of Selco Foundation in sponsoring utilitarian facilities to institutions such as Manasa and expressed his happiness to be part of the project that provided the Solar Unit as well as fans to the dormitories of the hostels run by Manasa.

Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves in his message said that both Health checkup Section and Hostel Solar Unit are essential for the children of Manasa. The Health Checkup Section would help the children to avail the first aid in case of injuries and other ailments. The Solar Unit would be able to solve the electricity problems faced by the children sue to power failures. He expressed his gratitude to CR3 (India) Private Limited and Selco Foundation.

Delivering his message, Fr. Denis D’Sa reminded the children about the coming Deepavali festival. He said that as the Deepavali festival is the festival of lights, the two facilities inaugurated and blessed provided light in the lives of the children of the Manasa Institution. Health is like light as opposed to the darkness of illness. Thus, the Health Checkup Section was iangurated to take care of the health of the children. Solar Unit would provide light when there is darkness due to power failure.

On this occasion, Mrs. Murile Premlatha-Vice Principal of Manasa who was honoured by the Karavali Christian Chamber of Commerce, Udupi with ‘Prerana Award 2023’ was felicitated by Msgr. Ferdinand Gonsalves. Dr. Gerald Pinto introduced Mrs. Muriel Premlatha and recalled her service to the Manasa Institution during the last 25 years.

As a sign of gratitude, Henry Menezes honoured the inaugurators of Health Checkup Section and Hostel Solar Unit-Msgr. Ferdinand Gonslaves and Fr. Denis D’Sa as well as the sponsors and Co-sponsors of the Hostel Solar Unit-Mrs. Joyce Margaret Serrao and Subramanya N with shawl, garland of jasmine flowers and mementos.

Dr. Edward Lobo,  Dr. Gerald Pinto  Elroy Kiran Crasto, John Martis and Louis D’Almeida were present for the programme. The Health Checkup Section will be working under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Edward Lobo.

Mrs. Muriel Premlatha proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Prema compeered the programme.
