St Francis Assisi (Kallianpur B) ward of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur celebrated the annual ward Fest with devotion and unity on Sunday, October 9, 2022.
The thanksgiving mass for the patron of the ward St Francis Assisi held at Milagres Cathedral at 8am which concelebrated by Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca Rector of the Cathedral and Very Rev Fr. Denzil Martis, Superior and Vocation Director of Pilar Fathers, Kallianpur.
In his homily Fr. Valerian Mendonca said on St Francis Assisi that he was poor only that he might be Christ – like. He recognized creation as another manifestation of the beauty of God who he might be totally disciplined for the will of God.
In the afternoon, get together of St Francis Assisi ward faithful at Prema D’Souza house premises. Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rector, Rev Fr. Joe Andrade Assistant parish priest, Rev Fr. Denzil Martis and Rev Fr. Nithesh, Sr. Sylwin Superior of Ozanam Convent and Sister of Rose Convent, Jeffrey Dias Vice President of parish pastoral council, Felciana Lewis Secretary of ppc, Flavy Menezes Coordinator of pastoral Commissions and Eugene Rebello Gurkarn of the ward present on the dais.
The afternoon programme began with beautiful prayer song by ward faithful including inmates of Ozanam. Gurkarn Eugene Rebello welcomed the gathering and guests welcomed with rose flower.
Quine D’Almeida, Ward Secretary placed the annual SCC report of the ward. Very Rev Fr. Valerian Mendonca gave his ward festive message and appreciated the unity of the ward people. He spoke on ward patron St Francis Assisi.
Entertain programme with beautiful dance by ward females held under the leadership of Collin D’Souza.
During the occasion past Gurkar and social worker Raymond Crasta was felicitated with shawl, citation, garland and basket of fresh fruits for his contribution to the ward and the society. The citation was read by Gurkarn Eugene Rebello. Honoured Raymond Crasta gave gratitude to all ward people for their guidance and support during his tenure as Ward Gurkar.
Housie game was held under the leadership of ward representative Naveen D’Souza. Marina John ward representative along with Irene Menezes assisted to conducting the housie game. Meanwhile spot game was conducted by the Naveen D’Souza. The beautiful prizes were distributed to winners of housie game and other game.
Ward Gurkarn Eugene Rebello spoke during the occasion and gave gratitude to all concerned for their cooperation to serve and lead to the ward actively. She also gave gratitude to concerned people for guidance and support during her husband’s sickness time.
Ward representative Naveen D’Souza proposed vote of thanks while Merceline Sera Pinto compered the programme beautifully and accelerated the festive good mood of the ward people.
St Francis Assisi Ward of Milagres Cathedral is one of the largest ward consist of 68 families which might be one of the largest parishes ward of the diocese and there may in future families increases in the present ward. The ward fest programme winded up with singing and praise for St Francis of Assisi. Lunch was served to all the participants at the end.
