Milagres A Ward visit to Karunalaya Old Age Home.

Udupi : On Sunday, April 2nd, 2023, members of Milagres ‘A’ ward, from Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur paid a visit to the Karunalaya Old Age Home (Vishwasada Mane) located in Innanje, Shankarapura. This visit during Lent proved to be a unique opportunity to share their love, warmth, and emotions with the elderly residents. Spending a few hours with the inmates and bringing smiles to their faces proved to be an enriching experience for everyone involved. Despite their problems, the residents were welcoming and friendly, making everyone feel comfortable in their company. The head of the shelter home was moved by the visit and discussed their various activities and needs with the visitors.

During their visit, the Milagres ‘A’ ward members spent time interacting with the residents and listening to their stories, both happy and not so happy. Hearing their experiences was humbling, and it reminded everyone of the importance of valuing our elderly. The visit also helped the visitors realize that spending time with the elderly and orphan children can have a positive impact on their lives. It made everyone appreciate the elderly and their contributions to society and recognize the challenges they face.

Vishwasada Mane was founded in 2004 by Sunil John D’souza, starting with just three orphans in a rented house with only compassion and faith as investments. Today, the home has grown into a residence for over 250 members, regardless of their caste or religion. As part of their mission, they rescue people who are abandoned, in dying conditions, rejected by family and society, poor, needy, homeless, and underprivileged. Many of the residents are mentally and physically challenged, old-aged, and have severe health ailments.
