Udupi: As the ‘Milagres College Kallianpur Alumni Association’ celebrated the great moments shaped them over the years…
Milagres College, Kallianpur which was a boon to marginalised and economically poor aspirants of collegiate education since 1967, privileged to have a strong Old Students Association. As it was rightly admitted and accepted by its dynamic Principal Dr Vincent Alva, the College is run by its alumni, to a great extent, by their visible involvement from different ways.
Many graduates came out from their prestigious Alma Mater never lost contacts and this connectivity is not only cordial but also perennial. ‘Annual Alumni Get together’ as well as the ‘Milagres Volley ball Cup’ tournament is some occasions to meet each other and rejoice.
Saturday, 1st June, 2024, at 6.45 pm though the weather forecast indicated rain, there was no dearth in enthusiasm among the elderly past and recently passed out graduates in gracing the occasion. The once PRO of the College who too a proud old student, alumnus, Mr Ravinandan took charge of the event to recognise and welcome each participant individually with brief introduction, taken all by a surprise.
Though there was no formal programme, Principal Dr Alva took the opportunity to honour the mastermind for the success of the historic Milagres Job Fair 2024, Udyoga Mela, Mrs Francisca a proud alumna, who was instrumental and inspirational, which brought representatives around 50 odd Companies under one umbrella and opened up employment opportunities to our own, as well as nearby aspirants in the surrounding, was draped with traditional shawl along with her husband and family. Secretary of Alumni Association Prof Sophia Dias gave a brief introduction of the well deserved family.
Very Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca the Correspondent of the College graced the occasion appreciated ‘the dedicated services offered by the Milagres Alumni Association which is led by its simple and humble President Mr Shekhar Gujjarbettu, with the cooperation of the Principal as it is a rare proof of lifelong membership to unforgettable moments….’
Various entertainments games and spot prizes were conducted by the organisers. What mesmerised kept the participants glued to their seats, was the spontaneous Singing and dance performances by participants.
A delicious buffet dinner was in place as the Get Together left pleasant memories and experiences to eagerly look for the next…as the alumni pride runs deep in their veins… !
