Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte – Kallianpur organises half a day training for the Members of various Commissions in the parish.

Udupi : Unusually it was a rainy morning today with continuous showers but there is no dearth in the enthusiasm among 200 plus young leaders of the vibrant church, to actively participate in the training scheduled to educate, motivate, participate and inject confidence in them to dedicate for the mission they were selected being members in various Ayogs.

Diocese of Udupi probably one of the youngest in India with just above 10 years. Astonishingly it has been recognised not only in Karnataka but in the nation being an all involving, grooming leadership at grass root ward level, as the Mission of Jesus carried out by his people. Today its experiment has become a live example for others to imitate.

On 2nd July, 2023, Sunday, around 9.15 am after the Holy Mass concelebrated by Rev Fr Roshan DSouza being the main celebrant with parish priest, Rev Dr. Roque DSouza, newly appointed Assistant Fr Oliver Nazareth and our own Fr Vasanth Cornelio, the members of Parish Pastoral Council, convenors and members of 20 commissions assembled in the renovated Millennium Auditorium. Once served with the breakfast, a short formal ceremony was held and Vicar briefly outlined the need and significance of such regular seminars.

Very Rev Fr Roshan DSouza, young and energetic newly appointed chancellor of the Diocese and ecclesiastical judicial magistrate of the Catholic Church of the Diocese, took charge of the proceedings with PPT and commentary. His simple ways of explanation with anecdotes and short stories made the audience glued to their seats.

He explained how the same work now done with proper system, delegation and responsibility. Leadership is essential. Regular training too is needed. Division of labour or responsibilities, are helping more people to involve as he compared family life and workings in Ayogs are very close to each other. To expect recognition, respect, praise and return for what one do for the society nothing wrong as people give time, labour and utilise their resources and talents.

Fr Roshan concluded his session with challenges ahead…asked to plan in advance and  while chalking out at least 4 events in a calendar year, especially bringing together the children, youth in the mainstream. Take the opportunity to serve the Church and society happily for a short period of 2, 3, 5 or 10 years as we are duty bound to spread the Good News in action.
