What a fitting, flawless and unforgettable finale to the week-long Fernandes Group–sponsored Milagres Utsav 2026!

The 289th Wilfy Nite’, staged at the majestic Milagres Cathedral Grounds, will remain etched in memory as one of the finest Konkani musical spectacles ever witnessed, drawing a record audience of over 4,000 music lovers.

Having attended dozens of Wilfy Rebimbus live programmes over the years, I can confidently say—this one stood distinctly apart. The scale, the soul, the staging, the sentiment—everything came together in rare harmony. Even the next morning, the heart still lingered in that musical hangover.

The day itself set the perfect tone. A solemn Festal Eucharistic Celebration in the morning, presided over by His Excellency Rt Rev Dr Henry D’Souza, Bishop of Bellary Diocese, followed by warm  and a delicious festive lunch, at our home with family. As the afternoon unfolded, eyes often drifted to the wristwatch—eagerly counting down to 6.00 pm, when the faithful would converge at the vast open grounds for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

A Stage Set for History

True to Milagres’ reputation for excellence, every arrangement was in place at dot time. Spectators poured in early, forming long queues to secure the best seats—testimony to the anticipation surrounding this iconic event, rightly hailed as “Konknentle Shreshth Manoranjan”.

At sharp 6.15 pm, the evening blossomed under the graceful anchoring of Mrs Reshal D’Souza of Kemmannu, who invited the distinguished guests to the dais. Mr Wilson Fernandes extended a heartfelt welcome, followed by insightful and appreciative messages from five eminent speakers:

Rev Fr Denis D’Sa

Mr Walter Nandalike (Daijiworld Media)

Anil Lobo, Chairman, MCC Bank

Rev Fr Pradeep Cardoza, Assistant Parish Priest, Milagres Cathedral,

Monsignor Very Rev Ferdinand Gonsalves, Vicar General and Rector

Each speaker paid glowing tribute to the Pirjenthi family and reverently lauded the unparalleled legacy of the one and only Amar Wilfy Rebimbus. Every word spoken was carefully chosen—rich in emotion, gratitude and admiration.

A Musical Extravaganza Like No Other

What followed was nothing short of melodious magic. The Wilfy Nite’ musicians, with a stunning 10-minute nonstop instrumental overture, set the perfect musical canvas—classy, powerful and spellbinding.

Master Emcee Dony Correa, at his lyrical best, introduced every song and artist with rhyming Konkani elegance, effortlessly reviving cherished memories of Wilfy Rebimbus’ immortal compositions.

The concert unfolded like a living anthology of Wilfy’s genius:

“Ghar Yek Kutam” opened with Rev Fr Denis D’Sa, as all artists graced the stage together—an emotionally stirring moment.

Meena Rebimbus, the beloved Konkan Myna, electrified the crowd with “Chili Pili Suknyano”, drawing thunderous applause.

Velita’s “Shimpti Moji”, Babita D’Sa’s “Tumi Aaz Fulanakat”, and the vibrant “Ami Komble Bava Kombya Bhovari” turned the grounds into a joyous celebration.

Vishwas Rebimbus, proving “like father, like son,” mesmerised the audience with ‘Muje Mai’ earlier and “Maria”, followed by the evergreen “Mog Tuzo Kitlo Ashelon”, bringing Wilfy alive on stage.

Each song—Angelina, Mojen Kalliz Mogar podlan, ‘Kiten Mullai Kiten Mullan, Sobhai, Kushi Zaata Sangonk, Toch Amka Rakta—carried its own emotional narrative.

The duet “Kityak Bava Vollok Tuka Mellina” by Ivan Sequeira and Melita stood out as one of the evening’s most touching performances.

Rev Fr Denis D’Sa’s soulful rendition of “Hya Saunsaranth Kiten Asa Then…thoden tuka, thoden taka….” left the audience spellbound, while “Phitisphonn”, sung by Ivan Sequeira, accompanied by focused lighting on the majestic statue of Our Lady of Milagres, created a divine and unforgettable visual.

The grand finale—“Amchin Phirgaz Festan” by Vishvas Rebimbus and Ivan—was the perfect curtain call.
