Mumbai, Dec.11: In an eco-endeavour that captivated hearts at COP28, Dubai, the Acquifier Guardians team from Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, emerged as Climate Change Champions. Their winning project, mitigating the Effects of Water Scarcity, epitomises the school’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development goals.
A spokesperson of the group shared, “We are grateful to Lord Jesus Christ for this global accolade for our children. Comprising Aniba, Anika, Jasreen, Naina and Sonali, the team surpassed 600 teams and 8,000 students from 43 countries, to claim victory in the climate crisis challenge by Burjeel Holdings and Said Business School. Under the leadership of Chairman Dr AF Pinto and Managing Director Dr Grace Pinto, the Acquifier Guardians personify the ethos of future leaders and change-makers.”
Guided by Principal Anuradha Sharma and mentored by teachers Anu Mehta and Akash Kumar, the team’s dedication culminated in a presentation that spotlighted Earth’s neglected resource — water. Integrating the Bio-floc Arduino Technology from the school’s science lab, they proposed a tangible solution to combat water scarcity and climate change.
The spokesperson added, “The judges praised the team’s collective initiative to reduce water footprint, deeming the project impactful and inspiring. As a reward for their achievement, Team Acquifier Guardians is set to attend a bespoke climate change program at Oxford University, UK, next summer.”
