Udupi : The work of repairing the drains from Panchayat Office till the Post Office has recently started. The repairs will involve cleaning out the existing drains of any blockages and stabilising the sides with concrete and the work is expected to complete within a few weeks.
The drainage repairs are part of a larger initiative to improve the infrastructure in the area. The work has been undertaken with the help of the Local Development Funds made available by the local MLA Mr. Raghupati Bhat in coordination with the Kallianpur Panchayat which has been working on various projects to improve roads, water supply, and other basic amenities.
The local residents have welcomed this move as it is expected to ease the free flow of rain water reducing the risk of flooding during the monsoons. The Panchayat also expects the residents to cooperate and avoid dumping waste or debris into the drains.
The MLA has been spearheading various development work in his constituency towards enhancing the infrastructure and to make a better place to live for all the residents.
