Udupi: A training cum informative session for the members of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), also known as basic Christian communities, was held on November 5, 2023, at the Milagres Tri-Centenary Hall. The session took place following the 8 am mass until 10 am.
BECs are a vibrant Christian movement that focuses on strengthening the Church at the grassroots level.
Fr. Harold Pereira, Director of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BES) of the Udupi diocese, was the resource person.
The rector of the Milagres Cathedral, Fr. Valerian Mendonca, and the Asst. Parish Priest, Fr. Joy Andrade, were present on the occasion along with
Eugene Rebello, Secretary of the PPC, and Prema Lewis, Secretary of the commission.
Jacinta Lewis, the convener of the event, played a significant role in its success.
The event commenced with a welcoming address by Prema Lewis and concluded with a vote of thanks from Jacinta Lewis. Rosy Baretto efficiently compered the program.
A good number of parishioners attended this session and gained knowledge and understanding of BECs.
