Colourful Installation of the Students Council and Investiture Ceremony held on 12th October, 2023.

Leaders are groomed as the New SWC 2023-24 took oath of serving and leading the students’ fraternity, in the Milagres College, Kallianpur.

Udupi: Students are the pulse of any educational institution and forming them into the worthy citizens of the Nation and Society is the mission that’s given to every educational institutions. This mandate is so important that every student is given sufficient importance and opportunities to develop and excel. With these objectives in mind the college witnessed today a solemn program in installing the Students Council, 2023-24, on Wednesday, 12th October, 2023, at 10.30 am. in the Milagres Tri-centenary Auditorium.

In the beginning the College choir led the gathering in prayer through their melodious prayer hymn. Mr Karthik Nayak, the director for Students Welfare Council welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest Rev Dr Anthony Prakash Monteiro, Principal, St Philomena College and also briefed about the investiture ceremony.

Dr Vincent Alva, the Principal, took over the installation ceremony and introduced the president Mr Shenroy Dias and other members of the students’ council. Dr Alva then administered the oath of office of the president of SWC and other office bearers of student’s council. The class representatives of each class too were administered the oath of remaining obedient to the college authority and the heads of the students Council.

Speaking on the occasion Rev Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, the investiture officer and the principal, St Philomena College, Puttur said ‘it is not the buildings, not the library, and not the ground that would make a college, but its dedicated staff and students make a college’. He called upon the students to be the leaders with responsibility, not for a show but to perform, transform and grow. Quoting the legendary Dashrath Manji from Bihar who worked single handed to carve a 110 metres long tunnel which reduced 55 kilometres of the path which led the villagers to meet an emergency. There is no shortcut for success, but hard work, he urged addressing the students.

Dr Harinakshi M.D, faculty from the department of Kannada and the directress of the student’s council introduced the guest of honour Mr Nagaraj Kundar, the president of Kallianpur village Panchayat. Accepting the honour from the college Mr Kundar said he felt honoured to be present at the investiture ceremony. He spoke about his experience as a student in the college during 2003.

The president and the host of the investiture Ceremony Very Rev. Fr Valerian Mendonca, Correspondent of the college called upon the students to earn merit of every necessary requirement of life and grow as individuals with responsibility and integrity. Being sensitive to the needs of each other is the highest education he stressed. He wished students all that was good and God’s blessings.

Ms Ananya Bhat N, from the final BCA expressed the words of gratitude, to thank everyone who made the entire program not only possible but memorable and successful.

Dr Jayaram Shettigar, the IQAC coordinator, Mrs Sophia Dias, Mrs Shalet Mathias, Mrs Sushma Shetty, Mrs Annamma, Dr Surekha Bhat, faculty and administrative officers were present.

 The college makes efforts to formulate students and train them for the future and the Students Council would lead to mould them and ensure their individual growth and professionalism.

The investiture ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
