Udupi: The Udupi District Coconut Growers Multipurpose Cooperative Society opened its brand-new sales outlet at G-4, OLOPS Enclave, Kallianpur Road, Santhekatte.
The inaugural ceremony was held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Mr. John B. Lewis, the First Member and Director of the Cooperative Society, inaugurated the sales outlet
Distinguished Chief Guests enriched the event with their insights and commendable contributions to the cooperative sector:
Shri Nagraj Kundar, President of Kallianpur Panchayat and Ex President Krishna Devadiga, Members Mr. Baptist Dias and Smt. Pushpalatha were present on the occasion.
Shri Manjunath S.K, Director of Karnataka State Souharda Federal Cooperative Ltd., Bengaluru, provided insights into cooperative dynamics and their impact on fostering socio-economic growth.
Smt. Bhubaneswari, Dy. Director, Horticulture Department, Udupi, discussed potential collaborations to advance coconut cultivation in the region.
Dr. Dhananjay, Senior Scientist at the Centre for Agricultural Sciences, Brahmavara, shared his expertise on modern agricultural practices.
Mr. T. Satish Shetty, President of Ganapati Vyavasaya Sahakari Sangha, Mr. Narayan Ballal from Kodavur Vyavasaya Sahakari Sangha, and Mr. Ramesh Shetty from Uppoor Vyavasaya Sahakari Sangha, showcased the unity among cooperative bodies for farmers’ betterment.
Mr. Richard Lewis, owner of the premises, was acknowledged for his role in establishing the sales outlet as a bridge between growers and consumers.
This outlet is poised to serve as a nucleus, connecting local coconut producers directly with consumers, while championing the consumption of locally grown coconuts.
