When the first monsoon showers touch the feet of the earth, there feels a sense of calm and coolness.

Udupi: Trinity Central School has been alluring in and around Udupi through amazing presentations over the years.  This was proved yet again as the school hosted “A fun and frolic day at the sludgy fields” on the 2nd of July 2023 at Bhandasale fields of Perampalli.

The Chief Guest of the program Mr. Ragupathi Bhat, former MLA of udupi, S Harikrishna Shivattaya, an agriculturist, the Principal Rev. Fr. Dominic Sunil Lobo, the Vice Principal and the administrator Rev. Fr. Ravi Rajesh Serrao, academic coordinator Ms. Magdelina Lewis, PTA president Mr. Krishna Shridharan were present on the dias. To the beats of the drum, resonance of trumpets and with a thunderous applause the guests were escorted in a ceremonial way.

With grace and poise, the fidelity for our culture was glorified with the procession from the school to the Bhandasale field. A wonderful day began by glorifying the Almighty, through a prayer song sung by the staff. Ms. Sharon Dsouza welcomed the gathering.

The programme was followed by a speech by the Chief Guest. In his message, Mr. Ragupathi Bhat, former MLA of Udupi, highlighted the importance of agriculture and praised the school for organizing such an event. He said, “This is the first time a school has organized an event like this. I have been with them since the inception of the school. I appreciate the teachers and management for providing quality education. Modern kids are not aware of the significance of agricultural activities, so it is essential to arrange field programs like the fun day at the sludgy field. Getting ourselves sludgy is like a medicinal mud bath for our bodies. I urge schools and colleges to teach students about agriculture.”

S Harikrishna Shivattaya, an agriculturist, emphasized that getting into the field is not disgusting but good for health. He praised Trinity School for organizing the event and expressed the need to teach students about agriculture and kitchen-related activities. Further the Chief guest was felicitated by the Principal along with all the dignitaries on the dias.

Ms. Elsie rendered the Vote of thanks. The entire formal program was hosted by Ms. Keerthi.

After the formal program, the sludgy fields were open to all the children along with their parents. The following activities were conducted on this day which the participants thoroughly enjoyed;

Treasure hunt, backward walk, 100mtrs race, volley ball, throw ball, tug-of-war, parent carrying the child on the back, soge race, musical chair, bomb in the city, buffalo race so on and so forth.

It is said, ‘Count the memories, not the calories’, and for sure the Calorie count for children and adults went out of the door, as they made their tummies happy with the traditional food served by the supporting staff.

Playing in the rain , especially in the fields was such joy. Likewise for a day of fun in the lush green and brown tinted sludge fields of Perampalli.

We the trinitarians believe that the family that prays, eats and plays together stays together. True to this fact, indeed it was a valuable and fun filled experience.
